14. October 2011 iLOQ Enters the Cleantech Finland Network

iLOQ has joined the Cleantech Finland network. Coordinated by Finpro, the network accepts Finnish companies that produce environmentally friendly solutions and technologies. As a specialist in developing, manufacturing and marketing electronic locking systems, iLOQ has always made eco-friendliness a priority. It is the first security company to join Cleantech Finland.

The environmental benefits of the company's electronic locking system primarily arise from the fact that it does not require polluting batteries or electrical cabling. The system generates its own power from the motion of the key being pushed into the lock cylinder. Advanced remote control facilities reduce the need for maintenance-related travel.

Extensive electronic locking systems may comprise thousands of locks and keys. Usually they receive their power from batteries, which must be replaced every few years. Thus these systems generate a significant amount of battery waste during their life cycles. Maintenance personnel must travel to the site, usually by car, to replace the batteries.

iLOQ's battery-free locking system is more environmentally friendly than its competitors, not only those that are electronic but also its mechanical counterparts. In a mechanical system, the loss of a master key leads to all locks and keys having to be replaced, which causes metallic waste. In iLOQ's system, lost keys are simply blacklisted so that they can no longer open doors.

Some of the strengths of iLOQ's locking system are top-level security, ease of use, expandability and low life cycle costs. Environmental matters are continually growing in importance in customers' decision-making. iLOQ's clientele includes numerous companies that are committed to sustainable development. Environmental friendliness is a clear advantage in iLOQ's system, and membership of the Cleantech network will strengthen this message in Finland and internationally.

The purpose of the national Cleantech Finland programme is to support the growth of green business in Finland. It reinforces Finland's reputation as a leading nation in eco-friendliness and clean technology. The network currently includes around 80 business of various sizes and from diverse sectors.

21. April 2011 Fully remote iLOQ master key management at Ifsec 2011

During Ifsec exhibition in Birmingham/UK (16.-19.05.2011) iLOQ introduces latest product news of the award-winning iLOQ locking technology based on the environmentally-friendly battery- and cable-fee iLOQ lock cylinders powered by the insertion of the battery-free digital iLOQ key.

iLOQ presents the new Key Replacement Feature of the iLOQ S10 locking system enabling up-to-date remote access management including lost key elimination simply by handing out a new key – locks do not need to be replaced if a key is lost. New keys can be programmed remotely and send to the user, and when the new key is inserted for the first time, previous keys are invalid.

Furthermore iLOQ introduces the iLOQ Network Expansion 1-2-3 solution for completely remote management of master key and access management applications. The off-line operating iLOQ S10 locking system can be expanded with wired iLOQ Network Modules enabling direct communication of the administrators with critical lock as well as managing key updates remotely.

Level 2 of the Network Expansion Solution 1-2-3 includes connection of an iLOQ Key Programming Hotspot to an iLOQ Network Module. The system administrators can change access rights of a key fully remotely in the iLOQ S10 locking system and instruct the key user to insert the key in any key programming hotspot of the locking system for updating the access rights. This method can be used for giving temporary access to maintenance companies.

Level 3 of the Network Expansion Solution 1-2-3 enables remote management of door locks. Up to six wired iLOQ cylinders can be connected to the iLOQ Network Module. Via the iLOQ Network Module the administrators is able to blacklist lost keys and to read key insertion audit trails over the network. Furthermore it is possible to define calendar based door time control, e.g. at main entrances equipped with motor locks.
