Importing External RFID Tags from Excel

This section describes how to import external RFID tag data from Excel to iLOQ Locking System.

You can import a large number of external RFID tags to the system, as a mass operation without the need to individually read them through the Programming key. This is possible, as the external RFID tag identity in the system is based on an unencrypted ID.

Before you start, check in locking systems settings that Key RFID tag number check-box is checked.

Proceed as follows.

  1. Select Basic data > Browse keys.

  2. Open the Excel sheet where the data to be imported is.
  3. Arrange the Excel columns to match the columns in the lock grid.

You must import at least the columns below:

    • RFID tag number
    • Label
    • Key name

You cannot import the columns below:

    • ROM_ID
    • Main zone

The other columns are optional. You can also use empty columns on the Excel sheet, if you want to skip importing some columns in the key grid. Do not import any column headings from Excel.

  4. In iLOQ 5 Series Manager, select Editing mode to enable editing mode.
  5. Copy the cells from the Excel sheet.
  6. Select the empty row below the lowest data row.
    Important:

Select the entire row by clicking the star icon on the left-hand side of the row. Do not select the first cell on the row.

  7. Paste the data by selecting Paste.
  8. Select Editing mode again to disable editing mode.

    Save the changes.

  9. Set the main zone for the RFID tags.
  10. Define the access rights for the RFID tags.
  11. Select the RFID tags and select Order programming task.

The Ordering of keys wizard is opened.

  12. Select Order keys.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Select Order and program key.
  15. Click Next.
  16. A summary window is displayed.
  17. Click Ready.
  18. The Key label window is opened.

    The fields are:

    • Label — Insert the key label in this field.

    • RFID tag number — Place the cursor in this field and read the RFID tag on the programmer, to automatically insert the RFID tag number.

    • Use existing tags and labels for all External RFIDs — Check this check box to use imported data on the RFID tag.

The rest of the RFIDs will by-bass this window, if Label and RFID tag number are already in the database.

If there is an item without Label or RFID tag number, the Key label window is opened again for new input.

  19. Select Start programming.
  20. A summary window is displayed.
  21. Click Close.
