Case Convent of St. Mauritz: hi-tech locking system complements traditional living

In 2020, the iLOQ S5 digital locking system was installed to optimize the access of the sisters to the new building of the convent, the mother house and senior citizen homes Haus Heriburg and Maria Trost.

For more than one hundred years, the Franciscan Sisters of Münster have met in the convent of St. Mauritz in Germany to coordinate, organize and plan national and international affairs.

In 2020, the iLOQ S5 digital locking system was installed to optimize the access of the sisters to the new building of the convent, the mother house and senior citizen homes Haus Heriburg and Maria Trost. It was also installed at the gates to the parks and gardens, as well as at the lifts in the building.

Besides 125 locking cylinders and 300 digital keys, 40 iLOQ Online wall readers, door modules and Netbridges were delivered to enable fast and easy remote access management of the entire locking system.

The cooperative decided to use iLOQ after receiving positive feedback from another customer in the Münster region. With iLOQ S5, the sisters are able to move efficiently through all premises with only one digital key. Security remains high due to the installation of iLOQ Online wall readers on the entire outer shell of the buildings, as access rights to a lost key can be blocked within seconds. This eliminates the cost of replacing cylinders and new keys can be issued without any problems. Thanks to the communication from device to device – D2D – a large amount of data is remotely updated and shared between the readers, keys and locks in the buildings every time a door is opened.

iLOQ S5 also allows time-controlled access. For example, access to gardens and parks can be granted for visitor traffic according to a defined time profile. Since the entire system is battery-free, maintenance time and costs are minimized.
