To deploy and maintain an iLOQ 5 Series locking system, you must have database access and a locking system specific Programming key. Each locking system requires a Programming key. We recommend issuing at least three Programming keys per locking system. A deployed programming key can be reset and cleared for re-use in another locking system.

The Programming key is used for logging into a locking system with iLOQ 5 Series Manager, for maintenance tasks such as the programming of keys and locks (in which case the Programming key acts as a physical encryption key), and for reading access logs from lock cylinders and keys. The Programming key has its own internal memory, which means that programming and log reading tasks can be transferred to the memory for offline operations.

A Programming key can be assigned to multiple users, and a single user can have multiple Programming keys. User rights may vary, depending on the Programming key in use.

The Programming key is central to the security of the locking system. Care and attention must be paid to the storage and use of Programming keys. It is recommended to appoint a person responsible for the Programming keys. Deployed Programming keys should be stored in a safe place, such as in a fireproof safe.

A Programming cable A00.17 and a Programming adapter A00.18 are available for the Programming key to enable the programming of different iLOQ 5 Series products with just one device.

The figure below shows the A00.17 Programming cable and the A00.18 Programming adapter.
