Waveconn selects iLOQ as its smart-locking partner
Waveconn is an innovative developer and investor in Australian telecommunications infrastructure. The company has been an early adopter and innovator of digital locks for telecommunications infrastructure with the first solution deployed in 2017.
In order to ensure continuous secure, reliable, and auditable access management across its network, Waveconn has entered into a partnership with iLOQ to roll out iLOQ’s battery-free and keyless mobile access sharing solution.
“Waveconn has demonstrated a culture of innovation and is at the forefront of global thinking on the use and implementation of iLOQ products for integrated telecommunications access management. By pioneering the use of our battery-free smart locks in the Australian market, Waveconn are both securing their assets and fulfilling their sustainability obligations. We are excited to take this digital journey with them,” states Ivan Roman, iLOQ Global Key Account Manager, TELECOM.
iLOQ’s solution features the first lock cylinder on the planet to harvest operating energy from the NFC field generated by a smartphone for unlocking. This innovation takes batteries and excess wiring out of the equation ensuring zero maintenance, minimizing lifecycle costs and eliminating battery waste.
As an integrated part of the Waveconn Access Permits System, access rights (‘phone keys’) for opening the lock cylinders are sent to iLOQ’s app running on end user’s smartphone. This makes the solution also entirely keyless. There’s no need for employees or site operators to carry around huge bunches of physical keys or to travel between work sites and administration offices to pick up and return keys. This optimizes workflows and reduces travel-related environmental impact.
Locking system administrators can update or block the access rights remotely and in real time using iLOQ’s cloud-based SaaS platform. This eliminates security risks involved with lost, stolen, or unreturned keys, reduces unauthorized access, safeguards on-site equipment and promotes personnel safety.
The partnership marks the first deployment of iLOQ in Australia and reflects the continued leadership of both iLOQ and Waveconn.
“After nearly six years of working with digital lock integration, Waveconn has a clear vision for our on-site security. With the iLOQ digital platform as our foundation, we are extremely well positioned to deliver our goals of innovation, enhanced security, and operational efficiency. Having iLOQ, a global leader, as our partner allows us to accelerate our road-map features such as smart scheduling for multi-user sites, Integration with enhanced ID management tools and location-based access controls,” states Damien Dalgleish Executive Director Operations, Waveconn.
