Blocking Keys

This section describes how to block keys on iLOQ 5 Series Manager.

Blocklisting is used to block lost keys from accessing locks, by taking the information on the lost key to the locks. Blocklisting of a lost key is the most efficient way to ensure that the lost key will not work in the system anymore.

For more information on blocklists, see Blocklist.

Adding a key to the blocklist is a possible without the Programming key, but removing keys from the blocklist always requires the Programming key, for security purposes.

Warning:

S5 keys can take information on 50 blocked keys to the locks. Use a Programming key, if:

  • You have to block more than 50 keys at once.

  • You have to update a lock, which has a blocklist that has not been updated in a long time, such as years.

Proceed as follows to add a key to the blocklist.

  1. Select Basic data > Browse blocklist.

  2. Select Add to blocklist.

The Add to blocklist wizard is opened.

  3. Select Add a key to the blocklist.
  4. Select the key that you want to add to the blocklist.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select how to proceed with the locks affected.

    The options are:

    • Leave in planning state — Select Leave in planning state if you want to leave the blocklist in the planning state, and order it later. After this, the blocklist status will be In planning.

      Note:

So far, you have just added the key to the blocklist, but the new blocklist version has not been sent to the keys, which will spread the list over to the locks. When you want to send the new blocklist version to the keys, see Ordering a Blocklist.

    • Order blocklist — Select Order blocklist if you want to order the blocklist from the server and send it to Phone keys. The other option is to use S5 keys on the reader, to obtain the new blocklist, which they take to the offline locks. After this, the blocklist status will be Ordered.
