Adding S5 Keys

This section describes how to add S5 keys to iLOQ Locking System.

Note:

You do not necessarily need the actual physical keys when you add keys to iLOQ 5 Series Manager. You can define the keys and attach them to the physical keys at a later phase.

Note:

Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

Proceed as follows.

  1. Select Basic data > Browse keys.

  2. Select Add key.
The Add key wizard is opened.
  3. Select Add key.
  4. Name the key in The name / description of the key field.
    Tip:

Use, for example, "Master key" or "Employee".

    Tip:

If you want to create several individually numbered keys, enter the starting number at the end of the name. For example, if you create two keys and enter "Key 4" in this field, you will get "Key 4" and "Key 5".

  5. Optional: If multiple time zones are in use, select the key time zone from the Key time zone drop down list.
  6. Define the Start date for the key.

This value defines the start date and time for key validity, that is, the key starts to operate on this time.

  7. Define the End date for the key.

This value defines the end date and time for key validity, that is, the key stops to operate on this time.

  8. If necessary, enter the planned return date in the Planned return date field.
    Note:

This field is informative only, for the administrator. The value does not affect the key validity.

  9. Select the S5 key key type.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Select if automatic renewal of end date is in use or not.

If an end date and time are defined for the key, you can define an automatic renewal of end date for the key.

If renewal is in use, the key user can postpone the end time by using the key on the online reader. You cannot access locks without renewing the expiry interval.

If you enable the automatic renewal for the key, select the hours before the expiry moment when you get the new period. Select the period of extension. Also, select the end time for the renewal.

  12. Click Next.
  13. Select the Key expiry interval.

You can set a key expiry interval for the key. The key expiry interval is a security feature that requires the user to refresh keys from the server at regular intervals to ensure that the access rights are always up to date.

If a system default key expiry interval is defined, it is suggested for the key. You can define a key-specific expiry interval by editing the suggested time.

By default, a Key fob is an offline device. In that regard, the key expiry interval is the validity time of the Key fob.

However, when a Key fob obtains a server connection, the key expiry interval is reset. A Key fob obtains a server connection remotely over-the-air by using the iLOQ FobApp application.

  14. Click Next.
  15. Optional: Select the estate for the key.
  16. Click Next.
  17. If necessary, select the person whom the key will be handed over to.

If you are creating a mass of keys, do not select any person at this phase.

    Tip:

If the desired person does not exist on the person list, you can add a new person by right-clicking to select Add new person.

  18. Click Next.
  19. Optional: Select the zone for the key.
