iLOQ installs its 50,000th battery-free smart lock on Cellnex sites

As part of the “Cellnex Smart Access project” to digitalize access to the sites and smooth field operations.

iLOQ has been providing its battery-free and keyless smart-locking solution to Cellnex since 2021, whose operational priorities are security and efficient access management. The solution, which has been deployed for Cellnex sites in 10 countries, features the first lock cylinder on the planet to harvest operating energy from the NFC field generated by a smartphone for unlocking.

Access rights are sent as ‘phone keys’ to iLOQ’s app running on the Cellnex customers’, providers’ and workers’ smartphones. They are updated remotely and in real time. Multiple sites are conveniently consolidated into one user-friendly and secure cloud-based software platform within the “Cellnex Smart Access project”. There are currently more than 24,000 active users and over 86,000 openings per month.

iLOQ’s innovation takes physical keys, batteries and excess wiring out of the equation maximizing security while ensuring zero maintenance and minimizing lifecycle costs. And, by eliminating the use of 20,000 batteries per year on average, and the environmental impact of travelling between sites and administration offices to update access rights, iLOQ is also helping Cellnex meet its sustainability targets.
