Palau-Solità i Plegamans city council

Guaranteeing maximum safety, efficiency and reliability

Palau-solità i Plegamans is a municipality and town in a province of Barcelona. Despite not being a very large municipality (with 15,000 inhabitants), there are many public spaces with multiple access points and conventional keys in circulation. To maintain collective security, it is necessary to keep a close eye on entry and exit points. With the old mechanical locking system, this was difficult. So the city council looked for a viable solution.

Guaranteeing maximum safety, efficiency and reliability, the iLOQ S5 digital locking system is the ideal solution for public buildings. iLOQ S5 is easily expandable to cover different types of access without the need for complicated modifications to the existing infrastructure. And, in the case of the Palau-Solità i Plegamans town hall, the architectural beauty of the building was also maintained.

Reduced maintenance time and costs

Installing the iLOQ S5 digital locking system has multiple benefits. One of the main ones being that no batteries or wiring are required: the insertion of the key generates the energy required to open the lock. This has minimized maintenance time and costs for the municipality.

Key management of several properties can be done centrally. Access rights are loaded onto the keys electronically, making the handing over of new keys simple and fast and ensuring the management of a large number of keys (and locks) is effortless.

The solution can easily be expanded to offer fast and easy remote access management of the locking system. Remote-controlled lock cylinders, readers or time-controlled electronic doors can be added, and the administration handled from one single system.

A single key for multiple access points

“With iLOQ, we discovered a great solution to our problems. The main beneficiaries of this change are municipal workers. Employees can use a single key to open several doors in different buildings,” states Sergi Plaza, councilor for Economy, Innovation and Energy Efficiency of the Palau-Solità i Plegamans town hall.

Palau-Solità i Plegamans city council has already installed 39 electronic locks in 19 of its buildings, and more than 100 employees are holders of the unique digital keys.

“From day one, the experience with the digital keys has been very positive,” Mr Plaza explains. “The first phase has been successful, and we are studying a second” he concludes.
