iLOQ Online readers

Smarter online access control

Readers belong to the iLOQ Online system – a remotely managed access management system that integrates with iLOQ’s battery-free digital locking systems. It allows users to control electronic doors, cylinders, and readers remotely through cloud-based software, enabling features like remote management, real-time access logging, and PIN code or calendar-based access.

Hybrid readers enable multiple access methods

The reader is an important part of the iLOQ Device to Device (D2D) network. This network is used to distribute information within the system and to keep the system updated and secure. Information like access rights, list of blocked keys, time profiles and audit trail are shared between readers, keys and locks.

iLOQ Readers use NFC technology to read and write data to the iLOQ S5 Key, iLOQ Mobile keys and iLOQ Key-FOB’s. Mifare® RFID tags* can also be used as keys.

iLOQ S55 Hybrid readers

The S55 Hybrid Reader product family is part of the iLOQ Online ecosystem. Readers are available in standard or narrow profile, with or without a keypad. Versions with a keypad can be used to enhance property security by demanding a Key + PIN-code combination or, for low security applications, with just an access code. The reader can be directly connected to a door module to open electromechanical locks or as a “Hot spot” for updating your keys and system information.

How iLOQ Online reader systems work

Readers can be directly connected to a door to open iLOQ’s mechatronic locks or used as a hot spot for updating keys and system information through iLOQ’s device-to-device (D2D) network. This network is used to distribute information within the locking system to keep it updated and secure. Information such as accesses, a list of blocked keys and time profile and audit trails are shared between readers, keys and locks.

The lock verifies access rights via RFID communication in milliseconds, then operates the lock mechanism automatically.

All rights are managed remotely through an intuitive platform. Administrators can grant, adjust, or revoke access from anywhere — no site visit needed.

Lost or stolen keys are blocked instantly with a single click. No lock replacements, no security gaps.

Freaquently asked questions

An RFID door lock is an electronic access solution that uses Radio Frequency Identification technology to lock and unlock doors. Instead of a traditional mechanical key, the system uses a digital key or smartphone that communicates with the cylinder via radio waves. This enables centralised management and programmable access rights.

RFID access control works through wireless communication between a digital key and the cylinder. With iLOQ, energy is harvested during this communication — or through the physical movement of the key — to power the system. The cylinder verifies access rights and logs every access attempt, creating a complete audit trail without any external power supply.

RFID entry systems offer businesses enhanced security through programmable access rights that can be revoked instantly. They also drive operational efficiency — no key management, no risk of duplication, and full transparency over who had access and when. With iLOQ’s battery-free systems, this is further complemented by maintenance-free operation and significant cost savings.
