Keuruun Energia produces and distributes district heating and distributes electricity. More than 100 years old, the company aims for a climate-neutral Finland.
About the project
Keuruun Energia has around 50–60 staff and contractors, hundreds of sites in the field and dozens of locks at each premises. With a manual recording system, they were struggling to keep control of access rights and had no idea who had keys and to where and when they had access. Keys often needed to be shared and there was no way of blocking them to prevent unauthorized access.
The solution
Keuruun Energia replaced their existing locks with iLOQ’s battery-free smart locks. The locks and padlocks in the offices and at the sites in the field can be accessed using a digital key or with a smartphone. Just one digital key or iLOQ’s mobile app on the smartphone contains all the access rights the employees or contractors need.

Keuruun Energia knows exactly who has access to where and at what times. Audit trails help prevent unauthorized access or solve instances of misuse.
No risk of lost or stolen keys
With the digital-key-based solution, access rights are programmed to the key. They can be updated and cancelled remotely and in real time as needs change. If the key is lost or stolen, it can be immediately blocked. With the smartphone-based solution, access rights are sent to iLOQ’s app running on the user’s phone. They too can be updated and cancelled remotely and in real time.

Efficient workflows
Each employee or contractor has their own access rights programmed to their key or sent to their smartphone to give them fast and efficient access. There’s no need to carry around large bunches of keys or travel between the offices and sites to pick up and return keys.
