Smarter key management with mobile-based key tube locking
About the customer
Huoltotiimi Oy 24/7 provides property maintenance and upkeep services across Southern and Northern Savo in Finland. The company works across a wide range of sites, including apartment buildings, terraced houses, municipal properties and state-owned locations.
Key management plays an important role in Huoltotiimi’s daily work. The key tube lock system supports around 70 users, with approximately 40 using it on a daily basis.
Huoltotiimi has been using iLOQ key tube locks for three years, and the number of locks has continued to grow as new sites are added. Today, the company uses more than 150 iLOQ key tube locks across its customer sites.
The challenge
Before iLOQ, Huoltotiimi used traditional mechanical key tube locks. This meant physical keys had to be collected, handed over, returned and tracked manually.
For maintenance employees, this created unnecessary travel and wasted time, especially when keys had to be collected several times during the same working day. For subcontractors, managing access was also more complicated.
There was also no visibility over who had used a lock or when. If a key was lost, left in a vehicle or not returned correctly, it could create security risks and lead to costly rekeying work.
The solution
Huoltotiimi took in to use iLOQ S50 key tube locks operated with iLOQ’s mobile key. The physical key to the property remains safely inside the key tube lock, while authorized users open the lock using the iLOQ app on their smartphone.
This means maintenance staff only need their smartphone to access the key they need at the site. Access rights can be granted, updated or removed digitally through iLOQ Manager, without the need to hand over physical keys.
Access can also be limited to specific sites and time periods, making it easier to manage employees, subcontractors and changing access needs.

Access rights are managed digitally in iLOQ Manager. New employees and subcontractors can be given the right access quickly, and permissions can be restricted by site or time period.
Reliable and scalable operation
The iLOQ key tube locks work without a separate power supply and are designed for demanding outdoor conditions. Huoltotiimi has also found the locks reliable in freezing temperatures. As new sites are added, new locks can be connected to the same system easily.
