About the customer

Chazay d’Azergues is a municipality in the Rhône department of eastern France with a population of more than 4,000 people. With a rich medieval heritage, the region has many historical monuments, while its various municipal buildings include the Chazay Museum, a neo-Gothic church, the cinema, public library and many sports facilities.

About the project

The municipality was facing challenges with their old mechanical locking system which was becoming increasingly expensive. Keys were frequently lost, and access management was complex. The municipality wanted to find a smart-access solution that could solve their challenges and give them the extra ability to grant time-limited access.

The solution

Working together with iLOQ’s authorized partner – Metallerie BDO – the municipality replaced its mechanical cylinders with iLOQ’s digital-key-based smart-locking solution.

How life in the Municipality of Chazay d’Azergues became easier and more cost efficient with iLOQ

Smart access with one key

Instead of having to carry around a huge bunch of keys or waste time picking up and returning keys from the administration office, staff and subcontractors can get access using just one key. This enhances the efficiency of their working day and also eliminates travel-related environmental impact.

Remote programming

Access rights are programmed to the digital key using iLOQ’s cloud-based SaaS solution. They can be updated remotely and in real time as needs change and immediately cancelled when a subcontractor’s work has been completed. Time-limited access rights allow administrators to grant access for specific periods. This feature is particularly useful for users that need access only during certain hours.

Security and cost efficiency through enhanced key management

Locking system administrators know from the programming software exactly who has access to which locations and when. There is no complex administration and no need to physically visit sites to grant access.

Low lifecycle costs through battery-free operation

iLOQ’s solution is battery-free. The power needed to recognize access rights and open locks is generated by the motion of pushing the digital key into the lock. This removes the need to purchase batteries, pay for the maintenance to continually change them and eliminates unrecyclable battery waste.

“I enjoy excellent support from both iLOQ and my partner Metallerie BDO. The software is very easy to manage and the whole solution is cost-effective to run.”
