About the customer
The Bresse Dombes Saône Drinking Water Authority was created through the merger of five former inter-municipal syndicates.
The authority supplies water to around 100,000 inhabitants across 67 municipalities. Facilities include 9 pumping sites, 2 treatment plants and 22 reservoirs with a distribution network of more than 1,700 km.
As well as managing the drinking water resource, the authority carries out all work related to extending, renewing and strengthening the network and facilities serving the municipalities and their residents.
About the project
Before the merger, the five former inter-municipal syndicates operated independently, notably in terms of access with each one having its own solution.
With responsibility for providing safe drinking water, it is vital to ensure that no unauthorized person is able to visit or enter a reservoir or pumping station. In the past, if a key was lost, it had to be immediately replaced. In some circumstances, the entire key structure needed to be changed to avoid the risk that an unauthorized person could try to use the key to get access.
The solution
The water authority chose iLOQ’s mobile access solution where access rights are centrally programmed and sent remotely and in real time to end users’ smartphones. This eliminates the complex administration and risks associated with physical keys.
231 locks, including both cylinders and padlocks, have been installed on site.

Reliable operation
iLOQ’s solution does not require batteries, electricity or any maintenance tasks. The power needed to recognize access rights and open locks comes from the NFC induction of a smartphone.
This makes it a cost-effective solution and ensures reliable operation even in power outages.

iLOQ’s solution was easily retrofitted into the premises. There was no need for drilling or to make any changes to the existing doors or infrastructure.
